ABOUT YAWANAWA JOURNEY

Rooted in
relationship.
Guided by
reciprocity.

Yawanawa Journey exists to create meaningful opportunities to experience, learn from and walk alongside the Yawanawa people.

Our work grows through relationship, shared experience and a commitment to creating meaningful ways for people to come closer to the songs, community, ancestral knowledge and living culture of the Yawanawa.

Our journey began with healing and grew into something far greater than we could have imagined.

OUR STORY

Our work grew from deeply personal experiences of healing through plant medicine and sacred practices. Along the way, we have had the privilege of learning from Indigenous elders and wisdom keepers who generously shared their traditions, teachings and ways of seeing the world with us.

What began as a personal journey gradually became something larger. These experiences inspired us to create Yawanawa Journey, a way to share what has transformed us while honouring the people, traditions and communities from which these teachings come.

OUR MISSION

Ornamental gold and red decorative border with a symmetrical design and a yellow background.

To create meaningful pathways between people, culture and place.

Yawanawa Journey creates experiences that allow people to learn directly from the Yawanawa while contributing to the continuation and flourishing of the culture, community and land that make those experiences possible.

Reciprocity

Exchange should move in both directions, creating value for those who visit and for the communities who welcome them.

Cultural Integrity

We follow the guidelines of the people who carry these traditions, allowing their voices, knowledge and way of life to lead.

Presence

We create space to slow down, listen, participate and experience what cannot be understood from a distance.

Stewardship

We want every journey to contribute to the long-term wellbeing of the people, culture and land at its heart.

The Yawanawa are an Indigenous people of the Amazon rainforest in Acre, Brazil. Their culture is rooted in a deep relationship with the land, the seen and unseen worlds, and a lineage of knowledge passed down through generations.

Their medicine, ceremonies, music, and teachings are expressions of a way of life that honours balance, reciprocity, and the sacred web of life.

Yawanawa Journey exists in partnership with the Yawanawa, guided by their leadership, their wisdom, and their invitation to share their way with the world.
